Journalists as military targets: the price of documenting Israel's crimes in the genocide in Gaza

An essential conversation with two of Al Jazeera’s leading voices in Gaza, Youmna El Sayed and Wael Al Dahdouh, who have risked their lives to report from the heart of the genocide. They will discuss the role of journalism in times of genocide, censorship, and the human cost of keeping truth alive under the bombs.

She has spent over a decade reporting from Gaza for Al Jazeera English. During the most devastating months of the recent genocide, she reported under bombs and threats until she was forced into exile. From Cairo, she continues to amplify silenced voices and defend the right to report. In 2025, she received the Maria Grazia Cutuli International Journalism Award and the Eleonora Pimentel Fonseca Civil Journalism Award.
