Expanding civil space and rights in Iraq and Syria
When civic space narrows, democratic life suffocates. Drawing on cases from Iraq and from northern and eastern Syria, this session explores how repression, legal harassment and violence operate, and what collectives and alliances are doing to protect defenders, sustain organisations, document abuses and keep open channels for advocacy and cross-border solidarity.
